New Era for Commercial Lawsuits in Istanbul: Jurisdiction Expanded to Provincial Borders

New Judicial Framework for Commercial Cases Justice Minister Akın Gürlek has announced a significant judicial restructuring in Istanbul aimed at accelerating the resolution of commercial disputes and strengthening commercial trust.
Following a decision by the Council of Judges and Prosecutors (HSK) published in the Official Gazette, the jurisdictions of commercial courts of first instance in Istanbul have been reorganized.
Expansion of Court Jurisdictions Under the new regulation, the judicial boundaries of the Bakırköy, Istanbul Anatolia, and Küçükçekmece commercial courts of first instance have been detached from their previous heavy penal court jurisdictions.
The decision establishes the judicial jurisdiction of Istanbul's commercial courts of first instance as the entire administrative boundary of Istanbul province.
This change is expected to balance the workload distribution among courts and enhance the efficiency of specialized judicial bodies.
Goal of Efficiency and Uniformity in Justice Minister Gürlek emphasized that decisive steps are being taken to prevent delays in commercial lawsuits and to ensure uniformity in judicial practices.
Stating that providing the most effective judicial services to citizens is a top priority, Gürlek said: "We are taking firm steps to prevent the prolongation of processes in commercial cases and to ensure uniformity.
We will continue our efforts uninterruptedly to provide judicial services to our citizens in the most effective way, to conclude commercial cases as quickly as possible, and to increase commercial trust." This regulation aims to resolve commercial disputes across Istanbul more rapidly and reduce bureaucratic processes within the judicial system.
