Özlem Gürses Harshly Criticizes Celal Karatüre's Hymn Performance: "Like the Mezdeke Group"

"Like the Mezdeke Group" Journalist Özlem Gürses expressed her astonishment while watching the performance, comparing the execution style to the popular dance group Mezdeke.
Gürses argued that the performance contradicts the traditional structure and the spiritual spirit that religious music should carry.
Stating that a different atmosphere has replaced the expected sense of reverence (huşu) in the performance of religious works, Gürses remarked, "While a sense of reverence is expected, they are like the Mezdeke group." She noted that this style, presented under the guise of a modern interpretation, does not align with traditional structures.
Reaction to Vocal Effects Gürses also heavily criticized the vocal techniques and rhythmic elements used during the performance.
The journalist argued that the sounds produced by the backing vocals were not suitable for the dignity of a religious work.
"The person next to him is making 'heeh heeeh' effects; I listened in horror.
What have we become?
Such shallowness..." Gürses pointed out that traditional values and seriousness must be preserved in the performance of religious works, expressing her concerns about a growing cultural shallowness.
