Critical Threshold Surpassed in Renewable Energy Turkey's total installed electricity capacity reached 123,284 megawatts by the end of January, with the combined share of solar and wind energy hitting 40,689 megawatts.
This achievement represents a major milestone in Turkey's strategy to integrate renewable energy sources into its national grid.
Solar and Wind Share Reaches 33 Percent According to data from the end of January, solar energy's share in installed capacity rose to 25,827 megawatts, accounting for 20.9 percent of the total.
Wind energy maintained its position with 14,862 megawatts, representing a 12.1 percent share.
Together, solar and wind power reached a 33 percent share of the total capacity, totaling 40,689 megawatts.
These figures highlight the increasing weight of domestic and renewable resources in Turkey's energy portfolio.
Strategic Steps Toward the 2035 Goal Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar recalled the target of increasing Turkey's solar and wind installed capacity to 120,000 megawatts by 2035.
He emphasized that a major transformation in renewable energy has taken place over the last 23 years.
"We have carried out a silent revolution in the field of renewable energy in our country over the last 23 years.
We have increased our installed capacity in solar and wind, which was almost zero, to over 40,000 megawatts today.
Thus, we have realized one-third of our 120,000-megawatt target for wind and solar," Bayraktar stated.
