Borsa İstanbul Warns Against Illegal Silver Granule Sales: Legal Action for Non-Compliance

Precious Metals and Precious Stones Market Directorate has issued an important announcement reminding stakeholders of the regulatory provisions regarding the sale of silver granules.
According to Decree No.
32 on the Protection of the Value of Turkish Currency, standard unprocessed silver must have a minimum purity of 99.9% and must be in the form of bars, ingots, or granules as specified by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance.
Authorized Institutions and Sales Conditions Trading of silver granules can only be carried out with products produced by refineries authorized by the Ministry, organizations listed on Borsa İstanbul, or the General Directorate of the Mint and Stamp Printing House.
Institutions authorized to conduct these transactions include banks, authorized refineries, precious metal brokerage houses, and jewelry businesses authorized by the Ministry.
Legal Action Against Irregular Sales Investigations into digital platforms have revealed that silver granules are being offered for sale in small transparent bags or plastic jars, which violates current regulations.
Borsa İstanbul announced that legal proceedings will be initiated under Law No.
1567 for such non-standard transactions.
According to the regulations, silver granules must be sold in sealed bags.
The following information must be present on the packaging: Fineness and net weight Refinery name or emblem The phrase "Silver Granules" Production date The sale of products that do not meet these requirements constitutes a violation of the legislation on the protection of the value of Turkish currency and is subject to criminal sanctions.
