Justice Minister Gürlek: Fake Social Media Accounts to Be Closed, New Constitution Essential

Identity Verification Requirement for Fake Accounts Minister Gürlek stated that users will be required to verify their accounts with their real identities within a specified period.
Under the new regulation, fake accounts that do not complete this verification process will be closed.
Gürlek explained that the verification process will be carried out through passport information and confirmation messages sent to mobile phones.
Noting that the primary goal of the process is to ensure accountability in digital platforms, Gürlek summarized the initiative by saying, "Those acting as keyboard warriors will have to do so with their open identities." "Patched Bundle" Criticism and New Constitution Goal Minister Gürlek also shared evaluations regarding the work on a new constitution, arguing that the 1982 Constitution is an anti-democratic text bearing the traces of the September 12, 1980 coup.
He stated that the current constitution was prepared during an oppressive and authoritarian period and that numerous changes made over the years have disrupted its systematic structure.
Comparing the current state of the constitution to a "patched bundle," Gürlek expressed the goal of preparing a new constitution that responds to the current needs of society, puts the human at the center, and supports social dynamism.
The Minister added that they are determined to provide Turkey with a civil constitution in line with democratic standards.
