YouTube Launches Payments for Content Creators via PayPal USD (PYUSD)

Crypto Collaboration Between YouTube and PayPal YouTube has expanded its payment options for U.S.-based content creators by adding PayPal’s stablecoin, PYUSD (PayPal USD), to its list of choices.
This development was confirmed by May Zabaneh, PayPal’s executive in charge of crypto units, as well as officials from Google and YouTube.
Eligible creators can now opt to receive their earnings in PYUSD.
Under this implementation, YouTube has adopted a model that does not require the platform to directly store or transfer crypto assets.
Instead, all transactions are managed through PayPal’s existing infrastructure and PayPal Hyperwallet, which is already used for AdSense payments.
This allows the platform to manage technical processes through its established financial partners.
$25 Billion in Annual Payouts Over the past four years, YouTube has paid out more than $100 billion to content creators.
This figure indicates that the platform manages an average annual payment volume of approximately $25 billion through its monetization system.
The newly added PYUSD option serves as an alternative method within this significant financial flow.
Currently limited to users in the United States, this feature remains an optional choice rather than a mandatory requirement.
Creators can activate this option if they wish to participate in the digital asset ecosystem.
Mainstream Adoption of Crypto Assets The integration of PYUSD, which has a market capitalization of approximately $3.9 billion, into major platforms expands the commercial use cases for stablecoins.
PayPal aims to increase the commercial and cross-border utility of its stablecoin by planning to support the Arbitrum network in 2025.
YouTube's move is considered a critical step in the integration of digital assets into traditional payment systems.
